Good news on legislation to help midwives in Pennsylvania!

Yesterday, the Midwifery Modernization Act (SB 507) passed through the House of Representative’s Professional Licensure Committee, as did House Bill 1251 which will allow us to prescribe physical therapy.

There is a lot of support in the House for Midwifery. Many of them know and value midwifery care.

Additionally, yesterday, SB 507 also had first consideration on the full House floor and there [were] no discussions or amendments! We expect it to go for second consideration today, then it will be sent to appropriations committee for fiscal review. We anticipate no concerns there. Then it will go up for 3rd and FINAL review in mid-November. If it passes… it will go to the Governor’s desk for signature!!!!!!!!!!!
